The key factor influencing shelf life is effective temperature management (cold chain).

This brochure helps you as quality manager, buyer or importer to identify and remedy fundamental hazards, which may drastically shorten shelf life time of grapes during storage and/or transportation.

Emphasis is placed on the use of modified atmosphere (MA) -namely the Tectrol®-system by TransFRESH – in order to replace the use of SO2 pads to avoid gray mold (Botrytis cinerea).

New studies of the University of Cartagena show that Tectrol® can replace SO2-pads or -generators. Therefore Tectrol® helps to meet the directive

95/2/CE of the EU.
