This year, TransFRESH Corporation's own BBQ Chef, Del Lybbert was volunteered to manage the BBQ pit and cooking. "Del is actually our truck driver in disguise, said Rich MacLeod, pallet division vice president, but he also is an excellent BBQ chef. He cooks for us and our customers 20 or more times per year. He really enjoys this". While Del used his own proprietary seasoning on the tri-tip, he also cooked up one of his favorite dishes "Sicilian Popcorn". The popcorn is actually whole garlic gloves, seasoned, and sautéed in red wine. The popcorn was a real hit, as the participants likely were when they returned to their offices! Along with Southern district area shippers, numerous package and allied industries helped sponsor this event. Area shippers and suppliers help set up, cook, serve and run this event together. It is a real industry team effort to jump start interest in the new strawberry deal. TransFRESH has helped sponsor this event for the past 5 years, and was delighted to ad our cooking expertise this year.
